Cosplay FAQs

“What is Veiled Vortex? Who is Itty Bits? And what is a Prop Wizard?”

Veiled Vortex is a creative collaboration between Itty Bits the Bug Witch (Sierra Schaefer) and The Prop Wizard (Jonah Eslinger). Together, we conjure creature costumes, custom armor, cinematic props, one-of-a-kind apparel, jewelry, and handcrafted suncatchers—built for festivals, film, photoshoots, and the fantastically feral.
Together, we are Veiled Vortex Creations—a portal into the mythic, monstrous, and magical.

 “How much does it cost?”

It depends on many, many factors—size, materials, detail level, timeline, you name it.

Reach out and we’ll be happy to budget out any project you have in mind.

“How long does it take?”

Timing varies by complexity and our current queue. Most commissions take 4–10 weeks to complete once started.  If you’ve got a deadline (like a con or festival), let us know early and we’ll do our best to line things up.

“How do I pay?”

We accept Venmo, PayPal, or invoice by email.
We ask for a down payment to secure your spot, and you can pay the rest in chunks or all at once. We just ask that it’s fully paid before we ship or deliver.

“Can I customize the design?”

Absolutely. We love weird, personal, character-driven builds.
Bring us your sketches, references, Pinterest boards, lore blurbs—whatever you’ve got. If you’re not sure? We can help with ideas too.

“Do you do cosplay? LARP? Halloween?”

Yes to all of it. We build for Renaissance festivals, cosplay, LARP, theater, photoshoots, short films, weddings, and just-for-fun weirdos.
We’ve created costumes and installations for Can Can Wonderland, The Dead End Hayride, The Science Museum of Minnesota, and The Uncanny Experience.
Let us know what you’re using it for and we’ll build accordingly.

“Do you ship?”

Yes—we’re based in Minnesota but we ship across the U.S.
Shipping costs depend on size and destination. We’ll include it in your quote.

“Can I meet in person?”

If you’re local to the Twin Cities, we can sometimes meet to hand off pieces, do fittings, or discuss builds in person—just ask.

"How do I start a commission?”

Just reach out—Instagram DMs or email.
Tell us what you're imagining. It’s free to ask, and we don’t start anything until we’ve worked out the details.

Here's an example of what starting a commission with us looks like!
